| I absolutely loved the book, 90 MINUTES IN HEAVEN by Don Piper. The book was recommended by a co-worker, who is also a Christian. I am so glad that I read it. My mother passed away 2 years ago and my father preceded her 24 years prior. Also that when my time time comes, I will be reunited with them. This gives me a lot of hope, as I continue to go through the grieving process. I am convinced that they are together along with their siblings, aunts, uncles, parents who preceded them in death. | It's rare that I come across a book that I just can't put down, but this was one of them. It is organized like a series of short stories, and each one was so vividly realized that I wanted to know more about that vignette's character. | I absolutely adored Robinson's previous novel, Gilead -- thoughtful, thought-provoking, slow moving in a wonderful, wistful, fulfilling way. Home, which is set at the same time and with the same characters as Gilead, just told from a different perspective, is a disappointment. The main character, Glory, can't hold a candle to the narrator of Gilead, John Ames. | At first, when I started reading this book, it completely bored me. The story line consisted of fluff, and was obviously copied from other popular series. The characters were boring, and unoriginal. The first few chapters were HORRIBLE. However, I forced myself to read this book because I kept thinking it would get better. | I figured out why I don't like the endings of Stephenson's novels. Like Tolkien, the main work here isn't the story, but the Universe. I have to say that this universe is certainly as compelling as Middle Earth, if not more. If he wanted, there are certainly a few more novels that could be written around the Mathic World.
