| Rick Riordan's THE LIGHTNING THIEF is the first in his children's fantasy series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and it sets up a world in which denizens of ancient Greek mythology are alive and well in our contemporary times. I dig Greek mythology, so this book was a no-brainer must-get for me. Halfway thru reading THE LIGHTNING THIEF, I jumped online and ordered the three sequels (and then, of course, I went back to reading).

| It flows well, the characters are great, I think they should make it a movie!
It has a "Series of Unfortunate Events/Nanny McPhee/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" feel to it. There are twists and turns everywhere. Bravery, puzzles (it even ends with one), suspense. I read the whole thing in 2 days, I couldn't put it down. |

| I recently gave two of these books to an 8-year old boy. He loves reading and devoured these books in a couple of days. He stayed up with the proverbial lamp under the covers the first night to finish the first book. He loved the books. |
