| I used to read this book over and over again as a child and it's sad that I went for so many years without touching it! Upon rereading I was swept away to the backwoods South in a boyhood adventure of hunting, childhood, and friendship.

| Taking only back seat to the first original Fancy Nancy story- we love this book. My kids especially love that Nancy even "scoops poop"- provokes laughter each time we read it. I am particularly fond of Mom and Dad for picking out the perfect pup, Frenchy, from the SPCA. And Frenchy is the perfect pup for Nancy! Mommy's High Heel Shoes |

| We all know this book, no need for me to re-iterate the plot.
What makes it work, though, is that Dr. Seuss understood the importance of breaking the rules - something many of his imitators never grasp. He didn't stick to a rhyme scheme or a meter all the time, he varied it and dropped it when needed. That makes his books readable instead of mind-numbing - even when you're reading them for the 1000th time straight :) |

| My 18-month-old loves to look at this this book over and over again. ("Gwa!") But I don't mind at all... "Good Night, Gorilla" is one of my favorites.
The pictures tell the story in this book; there are only a handful of words. I love the stunningly vivid and detailed illustrations. There are little surprises everywhere you look -- a stuffed Babar doll in the elephant's cage; a family picture of the zookeeper's wife holding the baby gorilla.
