| After reading all the great reviews I decided to buy this book for my 2-year-old son. I was pretty disappointed with it. The poems lack any real information about the animals and, in a lot of cases, are simply wrong. Maybe I'm spoiled by the Douglas Florian books, which my son and I absolutely love, but I think if you're looking for something worthwhile to read to your children (something fun that's not just inaccurate fluff) this is not it. |

| This book was fairly informative and answered as well as brought up numerous questions. Of course, some of these answers can be found off the internet, this book provides historical references which greatly aid in furthering the knowledge of the entire Harry Potter Series.
I hope that a newer and even more updated version becomes available so that some other questions could be answered. |

| Kim is a great story, but this is NOT the edition to buy. It's too bad, because it's a handsome book, sturdily built, and with the largest text out there (which is why I bought it). But unfortunately the text is full of misprints. Random periods, missing letters, wrong words, and a section of repeated text like a cut and paste operation gone astray. It's a bad value, and a worse gift. Move on... |

| The wonders of the world as seen from a child's perspective are rendered beautifully in this story. I long to visit this part of Maine to capture the same wonder as the two girls, from jumping off a rock into the bay, to the sounds heard through the fog, to an oncoming hurricane and the preparations for it. Everything is described in calm language and illustrated beautifully. Probably McCloskey's most exquisite, wonderous children's book. | If you are a teacher, I would look into buying another audio version of Romeo and Juliet. I have been using it as a tool to get the students to hear professional actors and to then ask them to use the same skills those professional actors use (inflection, emphasis, etc.) The problem is it is VERY difficult to hear...to the point that you have to sit 3 feet away to hear it at times. This simply does not work for a classroom. |

| William Styron is a good writer - no doubt about that. And the story of Sophie's time in Auschwitz was engrossing. But the way the story was told - in bits and pieces - lessened it's powerfulness. The book moved way too slow and although the relationships between Stingo, Sophie, and Nathan were well developed, they were a little too drawn out. I enjoyed the book; but not as much as I expected to. Unfortunate but appropriate ending. |
