| My three year old really identifies with this book. He asked me to read it to him so often that we had to replace our first paper back copy with a new hardcover.
At first I was a little turned off by the art (collage effect with some cartoon drawings and some more realistic ones.) But now I too love it and don't mind reading it... yet again. |

| Being fascinated by big cats and cheetahs in particular, I loved this book. Seeing pictures of Dooms so relaxed with Xan as a baby was so amazing. I thumb through the book every day. The photos are so moving to me. I would highly recommend this book to fans of the magnificent cheetah. |

| Although this book is described as being for the 4-8 year-old group, it seemed to me more like a 7-9 year-old book.
I was attracted to the book by realizing that the various animal-related stories that Alexander McCall Smith includes in his No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books were among my favorite parts of those books. It occurred to me that the Akimbo books might have such stories in them. | A fun kit with a neat book, gameboard, cards, and plastic animals. You have to answer questions on cards about animals to advance in the game and the animals are the game pieces, and you win by collecting the most as you play. It's a fun way to learn. In addition to some of the regular animals, there are some you don't usually see like a meerkat and cheetah.

| I just recently finished this book,and I say in all honesty that that it is AWESOME!!!The added viewpoints of Ratha's daughter Thistle-Chaser(a.k.a.Newt) and Thakur give the story more depth.I loved Thistle-Chaser!Her challenges of a crippled leg,learning speech,and seizures in which she dreams of Ratha biting her are daunting,and I was impressed with the courage she showed in facing them.Although I like Ratha a lot,she is definiteltly an ambivalent,'gray' character,who is complicated and messed up.Thistle-Chaser is messed up,too,due to the trauma she ...
