| My 3- & 5-yr olds like these CDs. We listen in the car, and they sing right along. I do not speak Spanish, but am picking some up. They have Spanish "lessons" at their preschool, so this is a nice way to enhance that activity. |

| Take the title of this book seriously: it really _only_ teaches colloquial Finnish, and the colloquial Finnish of only one region at that! While this might be of use to someone interested in learning to converse ONLY, it is of no help to anyone who actually wants to learn to write and read Finnish. | Really enjoyed this tape series. Lived a year in Japan and am always looking for (inexpensive) ways to keep up my Japanese. The format and content was just right. Also learned new vocabulary, as well. Level 3 was also very good. |

| I'm actually just finishing the first level of Barron's Mastering Spanish and I think it's going to be a little hard to maintain momentum through this next level. I'm excited about what this one has to offer, though. It explores a lot more tenses and looks like a great platform for getting closer to fluency, if you are disciplined about it. They change things up a little on this one, which should be nice.

| Great book to start with in Somali, which is a complex language.
There is a new edition (2007), get that one instead of the 1995 edition. In 2007, it has been packaged with CDs instead of tapes. if you want to go on in Somali or learn in parallel with a more detailed book, get those great Somali books from Dunwoody Press. |

| I got this hoping it'd help me improve my Mandarin since I only know Cantonese Chinese. It was a great disappointment.
The audio portion is lovely, but the book that accompanies it is poorly organized. It does not contain all the lyrics in Chinese characters, and you need to flip back and forth in the book to get the "additional lyrics" in pinyin. The English translations are in the back of the book, so you cannot cross-reference meanings easily either. The pictures and vocabulary words in between each singing ... Read More: |

| This book is fine, a pretty hum-drum outfit like any other 'teach yourself' book. It's pretty good. However, I'm writing this review to let people know that the 'handwriting units' are utterly useless, unless you actually wanted to learn an incomplete alphabet in a childish scrawl. Also, the printed nasta'liq is very tiny, spidery and hard to read. If you have no previous knowledge of Arabic or a derived script, I cannot imagine how you will manage. I recommend 'Urdu Grammar' by Ruth Laila Schmidt. |

| I wish this book were a better instructional guide to the language -- especially since practically few others exist. (Cesar Kurti has written one that I've gotten mixed reviews from friends on, however I have not really tried to use it, so I can't give it any fair comments)
