| This set is a decent value. For your money, you get a fairly broad range of phrases and vocabulary. However, the organization of information assumes that you can keep interest listening to a bunch of discrete phrases repeated one after the other with no conversations or anything remotely natural. If you can, in fact, maintain interest while listening to these tapes repeatedly, then you'll do well with this set. If, on the other hand, you need something more dynamic, you might do well to look elsewhere. |

| My mom found a used copy of this gem and gave it to me when my firstborn (now 7) was a baby. He discovered it about a year ago and it's become a favorite. Lots of big, interesting words, cute illustrations and dazzling wordplay -- lots to satisfy a kid newly enamored of words (and as a writer/editor, I'm happy about that). For emerging readers who have likely grown tired of Dr. Seuss and simple "Dick and Jane"-type books, this is a gem waiting to be uncovered. |

| I think it's great. No, I can't understand or hear every word, and neither can the baby, I guess. But that's not the point. She gets to hear the cadence and sounds of languages. She tries these out, internalizes these sounds, not just the sounds of English. Later, when we help her learn other languages, she'll have a much easier time with an authentic accent, because the sounds will not be new to her. Well, assuming she doesn't want to learn Xhosa or Welsh or something. |

| I just finished this book and tape with my boys, four and 2 1/2. I'm a Spanish teacher, and author of Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 1 & Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 2, so I'm always looking for good teaching resources. The tape is nice and clear. Side A has the book read in order - English phrase, Spanish phrase. Side B has the book read in English entirely, then in Spanish.
It has a picture glossary in the back as well, with pronunciation guide. A great way to change things ... Read More: |
