| I whole heartedly disagree with the previous reviewer. Unlike some listen and repeat programs that spit out large phrases at incomprehensible rates, this program introduces one word at a time in a relaxed, easy-to-hear pace--so that even that beginner can follow along without too much trouble. Granted that a semester or so of college Japanese study or some time spent studying in Japan would greatly enhance the ease of use of this product, even the absolute rankest of beginners can learn from it. ... Unlike some listen and repeat programs that spit out large phrases at incomprehensible rates, this program introduces one word at a time in a relaxed, easy-to-hear pace--so that even that beginner can follow along without too much trouble. | I am a second grade teacher and I have to say that "Funky Phonics and more, vol. 1" really livens up my classroom, every year! Favorite tunes include "The Vowel Song", "The Animal Song", "Telling Time" and "Androide". I would say that "Funky Phonics" is really a Reading Readiness kit which also introduces phonics through song. Lots of the songs are action packed. | You're not going to learn how to speak, read, or write Arabic (Levantine or otherwise) from this book. However, it is an excellent companion to a larger study of the language, especially for those interested in the Levantine dialects and those wishing to learn colloquialisms and expressions. |

| I checked this out from the library and am very pleased with it. My son seems to like that some of the tunes are familiar from english versions that he has heard. I think that learning a language though singing is the best way for young children to be exposed.
As an other reviewer already said, I am confused by some of the negative reviews. I grew up in a Dutch speaking houshold, studied German in college, and have been to Germany and spoken with natives many times. Germans always complement ... Read More: |
