| I checked this book out from the library to use with my children. For vocabulary, it seems to be the best thing currently out there, and I appreciated the internet link, so I could hear words I wasn't sure how to pronounce. I have since returned the book, and do not desire to buy it. Many of the people illustrated in this book are portrayed as being annoyed, malicious, angry, etc. This includes the family grouping, where the brother and sister are glaring a each other, and the mother is glaring down ... | I loved this book as a kid. I'm 27 today, and I don't smoke. However I do use the word "fool" quite often, so I guess this book damaged me forever. It was written before focus group idiots watered down everything. That was when cartoons were violent and funny. But focus groups saved us from that! Now instead of smoking kids of this new generation just mow each other down with machine guns in schools across the nation. Way to go focus groups!

| This book is an easily accessible introduction to earth science. It is an easy reader for children in second, third or fourth grade, It would also work well for English learners. It is informative, sympathetic, includes history, references Pliny, the historian, and yet maintains inerest. I have used it on 2nd, 3d, and 4th grade classes and all return to the book to read on their own. |

| My son loves Mad Libs. He is 7yrs. on top of this being fun it also helps with reading and learning new words. We enjoy doing this as a family and having a bunch of laughs. |

| An excellent book to enlighten anyone about the many different meanings of common words. A good book to take along, on your trip. Miss-understandings & confusion over what is meant, can be kept to a minimum. "British English" isn't "American English", there are many important differences. Purchase this book before your trip, you will be glad that you did. |
