| This book is super easy to use. There is an index of popular words in the back that helps you find the rhyming vowel. The way this book is organized is the best I've seen in a rhyming dictionary. Children will enjoy their poetry assignments when they have the tools for the job. This book is an excellent tool for poetry and other creative writing assignments. | As a high school English teacher of almost thirty years, I bought Hot Fudge Monday: Tasty Ways to Teach Parts of Speech to Students Who Have a Hard Time Swallowing Anything to Do with Grammar from Amazon.com, and I loved it from the first time I used it in class. I work with gifted ninth graders, so I adapted the topics for our purposes. My students enjoyed it, too. | This book has good lesson ideas for descriptive writing; although, some of it is hard to follow and choppy. The recorded sound at the back of the book could be useful for some children, but I did not personally find it inspiring. I'd use it as a jumping off point. |

| I brought this for my daughter this past Summer so she could stay fresh with all that she learned in first grade. I have used many workbooks with my daughter in the past and I am very pleased with the format of the Brain Quest book. The pages are colorful, and the activities are for the most part fun. Many of the lessons have a "Brain Box" that further explains the exercise or offers a different perspective on approaching the task at hand.
