| I bought this book as an Eid-al-Fitr gift for my 9 year old step-daughter. I think it perfectly suits what I was shopping for: a simple explaination of what we do, why we do it and photographs of Muslims around the world who fast, pray, read Qur'an and celebrate just like we do. The book, writing, and all of the photographs are beautiful. | I never got past the first 2 chapters. The first 2 chapters were anti-America/anit-Jew propaganda. From what I hear from other sources it is the same kind of stuff being taught in their schools and mosques that promote hate. And they are suggesting this for a teen read. I hope not. |

| This book is an excellent source of information about Ramadan and Muslims fasting. The writing is appropriate for elementary school students, and at the same time has more information that other books on the same subject. It is also important to note that the information is accurate. |

| Though I bought this book for my young children, I am the one that is constantly pausing in the middle of my busy day to sit, read and absorb the wisdom in this book. I love it! It's so deep, so multi-faceted and spiritual. Many of my treasured memories of my grandmother's tales are in this book. |

| This book stresses a conservative Muslim viewpoint and tends to overgeneralize Islam. It paints the picture that all Muslim females cover (not true) and that all Muslims pray five times a day (not true). Islam, as a lived religion, is globally diverse and people practice their faith in various ways. I really disliked the preachy tone of this book and the underlying assumption that there is only one "correct" version of Islam. |
