| Excellent book. I teach mostly Hispanic students. We read the English and Spanish version simultaneously. It really helped them understand. I always tell them it only takes one person to change the world, even a little 14 year old German girl. Now they understand.Well written, clearly translated. |

| This book is so touching. The illustrations are so beautiful. Luba had lost her husband and son in the Roundups and murders of Jews. She had survived and was alive in the concentration camp for the first night. She hears children crying. She gets up and goes outside to find 54 children in the field.
This is a story of her brave acts to save these children. Learning who she could and could not trust in the camp. It is nothing short of a miracle that 52 of them survive to be liberated. Read More: |

| The testimonies written by the Jewish children of the Kindertransport are very scary - scary because the fear that Hitler systematically used on the German people that began as the erosion of their civil liberties and culminated in Jewish Germans and German Jehovah's Witnesses perishing in concentration camps is the same fear that U.S. president Bush is constantly pushing: "Give me full power to do whatever preemptive act is necessary to keep you safe from whatever I determine is a threat to you".

| A real eye catcher, the book called to me from the childrens section of our local library. I picked it up for my 11 year old but spent a goodly amount of time turning the pages and taking in all the facts and photos.
The pictures are a treasury of some very famous and some infamous realities of war. Each and every page are filled with color and pictures, this is one of the reasons I picked it for an 11 year old that is very visually stimulated. | In my opinion, all upper elementary students should be made aware of the Holocaust. It's not easy--in a single library session--to try to discuss the Holocaust and promote some of the titles we have in our school library. "Child of the Warsaw Ghetto" is probably the best, single title I can read in one sitting that covers so much territory. | This is a very nice book about a little-known story from WWII. It is just incredible what these Jewish families were able to endure to stay alive by hiding in caves, although none of them were experienced cavers. The story of the modern-day cave experts who rediscovered the story is also well done, and the two tales are woven beautifully to create the book. Modern cave photographs and historical images work combine to help tell the story. |
