| This book came to me in the condition listed, but what I didn't realize was that the book was much more wordy then I had hoped. I will pass it onto my daughter who teaches 2nd grade because for my PreK students it won't work. |

| I used this for our daily read aloud. When it was time to stop for the day, but I kept reading, no one minded or asked me to stop. Hmmm, now that I think about it, even the neighbor girl kept mysteriously appearing about the time I read every day! The writer hooks you from the very start. He uses detail, but not so much it bogs down the story. A very enjoyable read! |

| My 5-year old daughter is fairly persnickety about what I read to her. We've tried other chapter books, including Disney's Fairy Series, Alice in Wonderland, L. Frank Baum's "OZ" books, and Peter Pan. This is the first that she's really connected with.

We don't know of any other book except "the book of martyrs" that the Amish has out that puts Christian Martyrdom in such a sober and accurate light. The first lesson was tough becuase of the tears my children found streaming down their face.
