| We enjoyed using this text, and also bought the teacher's manual and tests. I found the coverage of important events to be better than most textbooks. However, we mainly use textbooks as a sort of timeline or outline for history studies. It's great to add some hands-on activities, videos, and also historical literature to really round out your study.

| An outstanding book that I picked up in the children's section of my local library. The haunting photo on the book jacket drew my attention, and I just had to read the story.
It turns out that the photograph is rather famous; it was taken by Edward Hines and still resides in a museum. | Its been hard to find a teenage romantic fiction that is so delightful. The book is very well written. Ibbotsen is extremely clever. She creates complex and varied characters. Her story telling is filled with historical and cultural references without becoming a lecture. There were times where I couldn't stop laughing and other times when I stopped, reread the sentence, and acknowledged how witty it was written. | The Light in the Forest is very sad. It's sad because it tells the story of the uncompromising conflict of ideologies between the English settlers and their Native American contemporaries. I watched the Disney movie first, which, though a bit cheesy, is lovable in its own way. The book was completely different. No happy ending, no romance, no love. Especially the chapter where True Son meets his relatives just seethes with hatred.
