| While at times Howard Zinn puts forth interesting theories, facts occasionally get in the way. For example, he claims on page 209 that "The beginning of the Declaration of Independence says that 'We the people'..." 'We the people'? In the Declaration of Independence?
I'm not sure if this is just an issue with Rebecca Stefoff's adaptation, or Zinn's facts, but it's clearly an issue. This isn't a history book, but more a political opinion book which happens to use history to support the author's ... Read More: |

| Even though it was clear what was going to happen from the Prolouge, the author still managed to tell a good story in between. Although I have to say that one relationship is particulary disturbing, the book kept my interest just fine... |

| I am a music teacher and am doing a medieval/renaissance program at the library. I made this required reading for my students because it really helps them see what it would have been like to grow up a young woman in medieval times. It keeps your attention because it's rather short and has all the gross stuff in it like pig stomach with raisins, stinky privies, and the like. You know, stuff that intrigues middle schoolers. I just finished it and highly recommend it because it was a believable book about the conflicts between the T'ang and Americans, with exciting but historical events.
