| I needed a book in German that would motivate me to keep at it, so that I could increase my understanding and use of German. This book was perfect. The story was so good, I relied on context more and more, rather than compulsively looking up each new word in a dictionary. This is how I learned as a child, and it's still a good way to learn. |

| I gave this book three stars, because Harry Potter and his friends are much too young. I could enjoy the other Parts of HP. The first one is easy to read. The others are quite difficult to understand. |

| A perfect start to a wonderful series. I must admit I read the Chamber of Secrets before I read this novel, but then again I got hooked on Harry Potter by Dobby the House Elf! |

| I bought the book very interested in reading how the"Harry Potter" phenomenon got going. There were a few chapters that were very interesting, but some were down right boring. For example: "advise for a budding writer or H.P websites. I didn't care much for the list of "other" authors either

I felt the movie brought a greater sense of direction and theme to the story. After having read the book again in French, however, I'm inclined to feel I misjudged it.
