| With every Harry Potter installment, I find myself saying the new installment is my favorite of the series so far. Book 6 is no exception, and I think it is a credit to the author. The hopelessness and despair have increased in order for the readers to feel the plight of the characters. Starting with this book and continuing into the next, the reader feels the despair that afflicts the good wizard community. It has some similarities to World War II Germany. | This book is geared towards young adults, but I was so intrigued with the plot that I decided to read it myself (I'm 30). One of my favorite short stories is "The Most Dangerous Game" and I felt this book embraced a lot of its ideas. The story takes place in the future under a totalitarian regime that rules with fear. | Inkheart melded the real world and a fantasy world in a way I never thought possible. As an English teacher, I loved how Funke praised the written word and then made it come alive. While I thought Inkheart dragged out the story a little bit, I was intrigued enough to read Inkspell, mostly because I wanted to see what happened to Mo, Meg, and Elinor.
Unfortunately, I couldn't read more than 10 or so pages of Inkspell at a time. The beginning is fabulous as the characters get pulled into the new world. Read More: |

| I had to read this in 5th grade and it was torture throughout. The story was good but the way it was written gave no true human reactions and it was a normal book with a weird displaced mistery put into it. |

| My 12 year old granddaughter loved this book (and the 1st book in this series). It arrived in 2 days with Amazon Prime! She couldn't wait for it to arrive. When it did, she sat down and read it in one day! She is disappointed that the sequel to The Magician isn't due out until the spring of 2009. |

| By the time I read the 4th installment of the "City of Ember" series, I was a little tired ot the story line. The 1st book, City of Ember, had the most original concept of an underground city, and the follow-up books relied upon the novelty of the 1st book to carry readers further. The 2nd book was ho-hum and forgettable, but the 3rd (prequel) book took a step in the right direction. This 4th book is ok, but I am glad that the story-line is limited to 4 books. Any more and it would be quite tired indeed. |
