| Angie Sage's _Magyk_ is reminiscent of many books in the same genre - Harry Potter and Terry Pratchett come immeadiately to mind: a world where magic (or "magyk" in this case) is real, wizards and witches are common place, and of course a variety of young characters seeking to make their way while a dark force lurks and plots their destruction. Yet to speak in such broad terms not only oversimplifies Sage's story, but does it a disservice as well.

| These are well produced/read versions of the classic stories. A bit "old" for my 2 year olds, as it didn't hold their intrest as well as some others we have purchased. (Hence the 4 starts) I'd say it's a 5 star for older kids who may be familiar with the stories already.
NOTE: the age of the stories and the "mind set" from the time they were written may offend some, they are not the "Politically Correct" stories of today; can been seen as slightly racist, as are many stories from that time. |

| Anything by Philip Pullman is a gift, but this beautifully made little book (along with its counterpart, Lyra's Oxford) is particularly wonderful. | This is the first novel I've read of Neal Shusterman and definitely not the last! I was hooked immediately and could not put the book down. It is extremely thought-provoking and will stay on your mind long after you've finished reading the story. His main characters, Conner, Risa and Lev, are well developed and wrapped around a captivating story line. This is a definite MUST read... without a doubt! |

| I've been a fan of Gaiman for some time now, and Interworld was a title that intrigued me from the start. The story was well constructed and completed a wonderful introduction to a strange multiverse of characters and struggles.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the story was too short. We received only the briefest of introductions to a vast and somewhat timeless struggle between this group caught between two powerful organizations. | Terry Pratchett is a comedic genius and this book is another fine example. It is a little bit dark for a "teen" book (I think they like it that way...witness the later Harry Potter books), but always ends well. |

| I've read all of Colfer's books except the Legend series, and liked this book the least. It was harder to get into than the others. Artemis Fowl, Supernaturalist, etc were better. |
