| i am just getting started on the book. i like it so far.it seems very interesting.she carries a ukelele to school and the guy wannaput her ontheir show called something like "hotspot" im sorry if thats wrong but they think that she is like undercover or somthing. i havea kindle so im commenting on this using it.i recomend it toreaders and musicians. im gonna go readit so see ya andyes i love the book so far |

| While this wasn't a bad book, it wasn't of the quality I've learned to expect from Anne. None of the characters were written with enough depth to make the reader care about them, or even "believe" in them. Having met some of them in the 2 books written with his mother helped. Again, not a bad book, just not a great one, either. |

| Speare gives a realistic picture of the edgy but generally humane interactions between the Native Americans and the European settlers. SOTB is unstintingly honest but not depressingly so, and is interesting in its description of life in those days. And it gives many interesting details about life as lived in earlier and simpler times. I enjoyed reading it to my kids and they seemed to enjoy it too. Recommended. |

| This was such a good book! I don't care if it was in the children's section of the library, everyone should read it. It reads like something straight out of one of those adventure dreams, where you have to go on a quest and are on the run from evil people and all that. It also reads much like something written by Lemony Snicket. (Does anyone know who the real author of this is?) | My 17 month old son loves this book. Today when I went to pick him up from day care, he was holding this book, sat down and started "reading" it. He shook his finger in the air and said "no no monkey bed." All the other kids in the class saw what he was doing and they too (other 17 month olds) started shaking their fingers in the air saying "no no" and tapping their heads (for "bumped his head"). | As a young child in grade school this was one of the first books I read. I loved the book to read about four children,their adventures and making it on their own. I looked for a long time to purchase the book and one day I thought I would give amazon a try. When I saw the book and the price and upon receiving the book it was in fantastic condition. Now my grandchildren can relive the same adventure I did.

| I've been a fan of Tamora Pierce for a Very, Very long time. I would even credit her with my love of reading, since I didn't like to read before I picked up her Immortal series. But this book was horrid! It was predictable, boring, mean, and just plan bad! I love Tamora don't get me wrong, but if her books continue this trend, I may be borrowing them from the library rather than buying them.
I'm sorry TP but you've done MUCH better. |
