| While I enjoyed reading the Barbary Street stories, and was happy to see this book had been written, I was very disappointed in it. Rather than an update about the great people who lived on Barbary Street in the stories, it was mostly a pornographic memoir of Michael Tolliver. I don't recommend it. |

| This review is of the Kindle version of Richard Stevenson's DEATH VOWS that seems to be no longer available in anything but paperback.
Which is all for the better. I hope, not having read the paperback version. The version of the book that I downloaded in early November 2008 is hopelessly incompetent. It appears that some type script was scanned and then NOT proof read leaving many places where the text is garbled, filled with nonsense, and even omitting key words thus destroying sense. It was ... | I am a sucker for men who wear tight pants and sport stories and this book had them in spades. I had been trolling through Isan's library, a reader or great discernment, and saw it was given a 5 star rating.
When I initially started reading Caught Running I had a few problems with shifting point of view and had to keep going back and re reading to see who's head I was in. | This was the most heartwarming and engrossing gay love story I've ever read. I loved the way the characters were described, and the realistic way in which their relationship changed over time. As youngsters they clearly understood the danger they faced if their innocent affection for each other was discovered, this was described so well and so realistically it took me back to my own days as a gay youth.

| I picked this book up from the library as a throw out, but it ended up being an education. As a fan of Middlesex, this book gave another view into the transgender world. Really who does not want to know more about all types of alternatives. I love to read more about the more risque part of sex, such as BDSM, but this topic presented itself and really humanized the subject. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to know the real stuggles that a transgendered person goes through on their journey towards "transition". |
