| Willy and Wally are two bad wolves out to infiltrate a flock of sheep, disguised as Willamina and Wallanda so they could hide from the law!
Of course, they are "exposed" by a surprise sheep-sheering, and Willy and Wally will have to wait for those bad haircuts to grow out before they can try any new tricks again. | An interesting retelling of the classic Aesop's Fable where the author sticks closely to the original story adding in a nice chorus that children can participate in (if used as a read aloud) or which serve to make easier the task of an emerging independent reader (repetition is always welcome when readers are just starting out). | As usual with the books of James Marshall, the combinations of the words and the silly pictures make this a very funny book. Fox lose his big part in the class play, is afraid to go down a slide for a fire drill, and is left in charge of the class by Miss Moon. |

| While stories about disguised wolves looking for food have built-in audience appeal (especially when they pose as fedora-wearing detectives), this one seems a bit derivative. The whole "bad boy" concept seems similar to Daniel Pinkwater's "Bad Bear" series, and, while it may be in the public domain, describing your detective agency as "Dewey-Ketchum and Howe can be heard is not very original either. | If you have a child between 3 and 8, you should buy this book. The late, great James Marshall (Edward was a pseudonym) had the rare ability to tell a story using easy-to-read words, but still with genuinely surprising and humorous twists. This book's ending is a brilliant twist, which I will not spoil here. If you don't have a child the right age, you should buy this anyway, but you may have to think of an excuse. | I read this one today to preview it for my children. While I like the moral of the story, do not trust in flattery, it comes about in a disjointed way at the end of the book. I had to read the rooster, foxes, and woman's comments twice to be sure I was getting what each one said!

| I disagree with the low-rating whiners seeking to relive some long-lost childhood moment with this book. This story is for kids, and they love it! This updated version of the Henny Penny (waaay outdated) classic puts a late-20th cent. spin on it.
