| This is a wonderfully illustrated book about ducks. It is not as simplistic as that, though. Counting with a repetitious rhyme is the clencher that keeps kids reading. Their interest is maintained by the cute ducks that are constantly harassed by a fox. The story line is ingenious. I recommend all children be exposed to this book. It lends itself to numerous activities that will keep their imagination flowing. |

| This is a cute book about cubs interacting with their father. I bought this for my six year old daughter and she liked it very much, It was nice to find a book I could share with my daughter that showed how much Dad's want to love, teach, nuture and bond with their children in a way they can understand and enjoy.
The book has wonderful and colorfull drawings that my daughter loved. It is a very easy book to read to young children and I highly recommend it to all Dads who enjoy reading ... Read More: |

| I thought the book was very readable and held me fast for the few days it took to read it (first time 1974). I have been drawn back to it numerous times over the years. Sterling North's paints a great picture of farmlife of Wisconsin (and the midwest) in the post Civil War era: McGuffey Readers; houseraisings, etc. He also brings to light a well known naturalist in his day: Thure Kumlien (whose story itself would make an interesting book).
