| For a sea shore vacation in 2007 I brought a few books to read "on the beach". This one turned out to be a fascinating and well presented historical narrative of the 1916 white shark attacks along the New Jersey shore. Well to say the least I was riveted to my beach chair and did not venture too far into the surf while I was reading this book. | My son loved this book so much after we checked it out from the library that he did not want to return it! It is a great book that teaches children that it is okay to be different from your friends. |

| I bought this book expecting one of those 'Making of . . .' creations, but ended up being pretty disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this guide is very informative, amusing and candy for the eyes . . . but for children. Or, for adults with inner children. Seeing as I'm a cynical teenager, it didn't do much for me :) |

| I agree most with the review just previous to mine, although I am all the more unhappy with this book. While the premise is interesting the execution (so to speak)leaves a lot to be desired. Perhaps, being charitable, this is because it is dated. Its appeal (being charitable) seems to be in its evocation of nostalgia. However the ending involves a fish (which the children in the story view as a pet) being dispatched by a mother wielding a club on the kitchen table. This does not inspire warm feelings about Passover. ... Read More: |

| I bought several of the books in this series for my early-reader daughter. The books are sturdy, well-written, with interesting facts and great pictures. But therein lies a problem - some of the pictures are a little scary for bedtime story material or unsupervised reading by early readers. Sharks, killer whales, angler fish, etc, can be kind of frightening. |

| I am a chiropractor and carry this book in my waiting room. It is a little scary, but at the end it has a ecological animal friendly ending. It is educational and fun. Both boys and girls rush to this book. I had to re-order it twice because it simply walks away with the little ones. I highly recommend this great book. |
