| A well-meaning friend gave us this book, along with a bunch of others, and all I can say is that the other ones were infinitely better. It's true that our little girl (less than 2) is pretty keen on the book, but within a matter of months she had ripped out the waggling tails and I had grown very, very tired of the artist's limited repertoire of facial expressions, jokes, limp rhymes and cutesy-cuddly anthropomorphic animals. | The story is good but perhaps a bit boring for children under 7 or 8 years of age. The narrator of the audiobook does a decent job but is not as lively as other narrators I have heard and unfortunately grossly mispronounces the name of one of the three main characters (which, given the number of times she is mentioned, becomes galling). |

| My four year old son is in love with this chapter series! A friend suggested it to us since he seemed ready for a more advanced reading material at bedtime. My husband reads him a chapter every night...sometimes more because they don't want to stop. It's become a great tradition for them, and something they both look forward to. We love that there are so many in the collection! Start with number 1 and just continue. :) |

| My 22 month old daughter just loves Sandra Boynton's books, and this one is great, too! We just love the rhythmic beat. It really makes the book fun and interesting to little ones of all ages. |

| I'll let you read other reviews to decide if you want to try the book. This review is specifically in reference to the audio book, which is read by actor Chad Lowe. My daughters and I listen to audio books daily, and we've listened to some truly gifted readers. The trouble with Hoot is that Chad Lowe reads with the skill that I expect from a non-professional. He brings absolutely nothing extra to the performance of the book. Very disappointing. |

| This is an awesome book. On of the best allegories I have ever read. One of those books that changes you life. It is truely inspiring. |

| My 8 year old son picked this book out because he read "Because of Winn-Dixie" and loved it. He and I both thought Tiger Rising fell short of our expectations. Another thing that really annoyed me is that DiCamillo uses profanity in her telling of this story. Her use of the word "Damn" is extremely inappropriate considering this book is being read by children. "Darn" would have worked equally well. He stopped when he got to that word and question me about it...he didn't want to read it out loud. ... Read More: |

| This book is perfect for the Halloween season, although it does not mention Halloween specificially. Because of this, I was able to read it to my son's school class for the "fall" season (his school tries not to focus on the Halloween holiday). The kids loved it. The main character is a friendly witch who gets out of a sticky situation thanks to the friends she has made along the way. A fun read. |
