| Ribsy is one of Beverly Cleary's series on the children of Klikitat Street in Portland Oregon. It is pure 50's childhood and very entertaining. I use this as an independent reading selection for groups of my fourth grade ESL students. They can easily read it on their own, helping one another on the vocabulary, and they stay interested. | I was looking forward to receiving this book, following rave reviews and awards. But both I and my twin nearly-five-year-olds have been very much disappointed, and are unlikely to finish the second book (or even start the third) in this three-volume compilation.
While the theme and content (a quest to rescue a baby dragon, subsequent adventures with dragon) was extremely appealing given this audience's passions, the poor execution of this story neutered the otherwise promising tale. ... Read More: |

| My two sons (5-year old and 4-year old) have enjoyed this book for a couple years now. They imagine themselves as "little bears" and enjoy adding their own imagination to the book's different stories.
I really liked the "Birthday Soup" chapter best and have used it to teach my sons that no matter how little you have, you always have enough to share. | I agree with other reviews that I don't think this book is as good as The Gruffalo...but I'm still giving it 5 stars because it is still a really great book. I don't think the story is as clever and the ending seems a little anti-climatic. But my 18 month old son LOVES this book...even more than The Gruffalo. This is one of the most often read books in our house. |

| This book is GREAT! There are a few parts that we werent crazy about, but I cannot let those things deter me from recommending this fabulous and extraordinary book!! My boys and I absolutely LOVED it!
* Something neat about the book is that it has a great map of the boy's travels printed at the very beginning of the book. We referred to this map constantly as we read through the book!
