| After reading Helen Fox's first book, Eager, we were eager to read her next installment, Eager's Nephew. We were not disappointed. Both of my elementary aged sons read the book straight through. Even my high school daughter picked up the book and couldn't put it down. Jonquil, Ms. Fox's latest hero, is lovable and appealing to reader's across the age spectrum. | First Light was hard for me to put down. Peter Solemn's world is rocked in the very first chapter when his father, a glaciologist, announces the family is going on a research trip to Greenland. Two chapters later, we meet a second main character, Thea, who lives under the arctic ice in a society created generations ago by a group of people fleeing persecution in Europe.

| What my (now 6 yo) daughter likes is a good story. She can learn anything if there is some dramatic action involved. This story of George Washington Carver's life is just the right length for a young student (kinder to 4th grade). It starts with the drama of the baby GWC being kidnapped and returned. The illustrations are bold and capture the flavor of the text. It's everything you want in a child's book, educational, morally inspiring, and yet a truly good to read story. |

| I was reading this to my nephew and a woman who identified herself as a teacher commented that the book was very educational and fun. My nephew was enjoying the story and the pictures probably not realizing how much he was learning along the way. Great series. |
