| This is a book about an armadillo who wants to travel outside his small world - the
desert area of Amarillo. As he goes along, he sends back postcards of what he sees. He is very ingenious in getting farther and farther away from Amarillo. He eventually makes it to outer space. Cumulatively, the reader ends up with a sense of where we are in the universe. It is a simpler book version of the Powers of Ten movie from many years ago. |

| The Alvin Fernald books were in fact made into movies for the Wonderful World Of Disney. They are Alvin the Magnificent, The Wiz Kid and The Mystery of Riverton, The Wiz Kid and the Carnival Caper. I just wanted to let any fans know. The bad news is that none of them have been released on video or DVD. But how knows, maybe Disney will get smart and release them. |

| This is a very cute book! I am able to use it with my third graders. This book enables the students to come up with the terminology that a third grader should use (migration). Very cool! |

| My 6 year old son loved this book. It's similar to the magic school bus in that it is a mixture of scientific facts and fantasy. Andrew has a miniature robot pal who supplies all of the science, so it's easy for children to tell the difference between fact and fiction.
In this book (series), Andrew, his cousin, and his robot pal are in an underwater submersible shaped like a VW bug, trying to save the ocean animals from the bad guy. Plenty of kid humor directed at 7 to 12 year olds. Just enough tension ... Read More: |

| I read this book in elementary school. It really happened: the story of the volcano Paricutin. A con of the story is the simile, "the volcano smoking like an old man smoking his pipe" and smoking is bad for us. A better simile would have been, "like a dragon breathing fire" or something. |

In each book in this series she experiences (temporarily) a change into someone else, and during the period of change she usually creates a conflict that she has to work to resolve after she turns into Katie again. My daughters (similar in age to Katie) love these books and usually consume them in a single day (or a single sitting). The conflict is low-grade and typically funny or light-hearted.

| I think that these books are a great way to get kids interested in the people who helped shape our country to what it is today, our freedom, power and our faith. It is simple, easy reading for about second-third grade beginning level. They are full of fun interesting things about the person. I think the whole set of these books should be in every library especially at elementary schools. I myself have enjoyed them and learned alot I didn't learn when I was in school. |
