| This is one of my favorite books when it comes to have a story hour with children 8-12 years old (and not 4-8, even though younger children can still be fascinated by the story, the logic here and kind of information requires more maturity!).

| I have put off reading this book for years... mainly because of its size, and the fact that it was written in French, and I just didn't want to put that much work into anything. I finally convinced myself that I really needed to read this because I enjoy the movies so much.

| This is a wonderful family story. You will cry. You will laugh. You will picture the setting as it is described so well. The characters are all so wonderful. | This book is an excellent book for readers of all ages. Children that are too young for studying the Holocaust will gain much understanding from this book. This book was recently used in a high school classroom studying the Holocaust and students responded very well. The simple story and beautiful illustrations present the Holocaust in such a simple way that makes it easier for understanding the bigger themes later on. |
