| I am a mother of four children under 14, and always looking for well written historical fiction for my boys. My 10 year old needs the action in a book to start pretty quickly, or he will lose interest. I just finished reading this today, and I can't wait for him to read it. Smith is able to take a fairly complex subject, and make it interesting, and understandable, while teaching the reader a piece of the history of Burma during WWII. | My two year old son absolutely loves these books. I must admit that I was hesitant about then at first, being a Garth Williams purist and all, but they are well adapted and illustrated. I think that he mostly enjoys the illustrations at his age. Children of any age will enjoy them. |

| My nearly 8 year old son was so in love with the first title, he could barely wait to get his hands on this copy! I'm so glad I found it on Amazon, because you can't beat such a low price on a hardcover. I have read this when he isn't busy with it, and I must say, the writing is brilliant. The details are rich and wonderful, great depth to the characters, and my son loves the contrast of past and modern times. Definitely up there with the Harry Potter series. Highly recommend! |

| This series had potential, starting out good in the first two books, but this book is where all hope of a good story was destroyed.
First of all, I think in this series they could have been a little bit more creative with how people found out that she was a girl. Both times people found out because by some force of magic her clothes were ripped off. Please. Plus, Alanna sleeps with two different men and I don't like the personality of either of them. | This was the first series that my new friend ever recomended to me. I was skeptical at first but then I read the first chapter. Suddenly I was pulled into the world of Alanna. Finally my eyes stopped, frantic I searched for the next page of words. There were no more. I had reached the end of the first book. I sprinted into school the next day and begged my friend to bring in the second. This series was one of the best I ever read. | This is one of those classic novels that you could read again and again. I hadn't read it since high school twenty years ago and just re-read Christy last week. I like it even better now than I did then (and I loved it then, too). I would have loved to have had Catherine Marshall's version of a sequel (hopefully it would have consisted of a continuation of Neil & Christy's romance), but I guess we get to imagine the "happily ever after" instead. It's a great read! |

| My daughters and I really enjoyed listening to this classic literature in long car rides. The story combined with the enchanting music made it all the more endearing. |
