| My 8 year old son picked this book out because he read "Because of Winn-Dixie" and loved it. He and I both thought Tiger Rising fell short of our expectations. Another thing that really annoyed me is that DiCamillo uses profanity in her telling of this story. Her use of the word "Damn" is extremely inappropriate considering this book is being read by children. "Darn" would have worked equally well. He stopped when he got to that word and question me about it...he didn't want to read it out loud. ... Read More: |

| This book is a rare treasure, perfectly pitched to read aloud to my five-year-old boys.
First, it's a lovely tale, perfectly combining gentle, humourous real world observation (hotels, vacuum cleaners) with just enough fantasy elements to keep childish imagination tantalised (a talking mouse! who rides a motorbike!). | i am just getting started on the book. i like it so far.it seems very interesting.she carries a ukelele to school and the guy wannaput her ontheir show called something like "hotspot" im sorry if thats wrong but they think that she is like undercover or somthing. i havea kindle so im commenting on this using it.i recomend it toreaders and musicians. im gonna go readit so see ya andyes i love the book so far |

| I loved this book it was very pages turning. My favorite part of the book was when Brian went back to the woods. The book is all about a boy that goes back to the woods to live and get his life back. When he is living in the woods he has a lot of suprises. You have to read Hatchet first because you will not get anything. This is a perfect gift for any boy that likes the outdoors or camping. Also it is very short (110 pages) so if you don't like long book this is for you. |

| Speare gives a realistic picture of the edgy but generally humane interactions between the Native Americans and the European settlers. SOTB is unstintingly honest but not depressingly so, and is interesting in its description of life in those days. And it gives many interesting details about life as lived in earlier and simpler times. I enjoyed reading it to my kids and they seemed to enjoy it too. Recommended. |

| As a young child in grade school this was one of the first books I read. I loved the book to read about four children,their adventures and making it on their own. I looked for a long time to purchase the book and one day I thought I would give amazon a try. When I saw the book and the price and upon receiving the book it was in fantastic condition. Now my grandchildren can relive the same adventure I did.

| I read to my 6 year old boy every night. We'd just finished Brian Selznick's wonderful "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," so I was looking for more work by him. We came across The Doll People, and even though he only illustrated it, we gave it a try. The end result: It is excellent!
Ms. Martin and Ms. Godwin pace the story beautifully--filling it with humor, suspense and mystery. Mr. Selznick's illustrations are rich in detail--and really capture the moments so well. Though the reading level is too advanced for my 6 year old--it makes a great ... Read More: |

| I would give this book, Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan, four stars. The author describes everything really realistic and fun, making you feel like you're watching TV. All the characters are realistic in their characteristics. Only the bad thing is the ending I think. I think the ending happened too suddenly. That's the only reason I took one star out. It's really a good book though.
