| I have been a huge DiCamillo fan for many years but, Louise, The Adventures of a Chicken is a huge disappointment. The book reads like a choppy, dry, disjointed work produced by a middle schooler. Please stick to your beautiful and well-developed chapter books, Ms. DiCamillo. |

| I read this book to my daughter from the time she was one; she is now six. Now she gets a thrill out of reading it herself. My son is two years old; he is also eager for story time, and it is also one of his first picks. The kids love exploring the illustrations, and each time noticing something new. As a mother, I enjoyed reading this book to my children. It is wonderful, charming and memorable. |

| This is a great book with photos of real animals and no words to influence the reader's response. Tiny children love seeing animals and learning the sounds they make and the names of the animals. I give a copy of this book to every new baby in my family (I have 17 grandchildren!, 1 great grandchild) and each new client under 3 years of age who I qualify for speech and language services. | I'm not quite sure what's behind the criticism from other reviewers of this book; it's fairly innocuous compared to some of the Disney animated features in which the parents of cute animal characters are violently murdered. My granddaughters both love to pick up "pretty rocks" and will bring home pounds of them when we walk in the woods. I bought this book for them--but read it first, because of what other reviewers had said. I loved it--and the girls will, too, I'm sure, as it ends happily.
