| The last thing I want to do is teach my child the wrong farm animals. For those who don't know the white woolly thing,that says 'baa' is a sheep. The author should have known better, there are only five animals in the book. |

| I read this one today to preview it for my children. While I like the moral of the story, do not trust in flattery, it comes about in a disjointed way at the end of the book. I had to read the rooster, foxes, and woman's comments twice to be sure I was getting what each one said!
Throughout the book there are references to "all the rooster's hens," "his 7 wives" and so on. I find this inappropriate for a children's book. Including "when I see the beauty of your face...my fears die away" ... Read More: |

| Anita Lobel's new book "Hello, Day!" is gorgeously illustrated in a rich palette of colors and enhanced with a simple text that is in a large font - perfect for beginner readers. The story itself is of various animals and the sounds they make, e.g. "The rooster said, Cock-a-doodle-doo!", "The cow said, Moo" and so on. It makes for easy reading and a little child would be able to 'read' as they associate a particular animal with the sound it makes. Highly recommended for preschoolers! |

| This has got to be one of the most obnoxious books/toy out there. It is ear-piercingly loud, and there is no volume control! Plus, the animal sounds are so mechanical sounding that it is not even close to how a cow or horse sounds like so I don't see how this is useful. Plus, after only a few uses it malfunctioned (thank God) and now repeats the same sound over and over, so I put it in it's place - the trash! |

| I love these books. I am a great believer in reading phonics books to children and books that rhyme and have great sound. When you read to them and talk about what is the same in words, they will make the connection. It's beautifully illustrated, colorful and pretty soon they will be reading it to you. It's a book that is easy enough for them to carry around with them. Great stocking stuffer. |

| "Max's Chocolate Chicken" is another favorite Rosemary Wells book of mine. It's simple and funny, so entertaining and beautifully drawn.
Max and Ruby are on an egg hunt. Whoever gets the most eggs, gets the chocolate chicken. But when Ruby spies the chicken is missing, why does she go search for Max? Max doesn't surprise us and that's why we love him so much. Great book, as usual! |
