| I've been reading the series with my seven year old grandson. He's loved every book and the content has sparked a lot of discussions. He was hesitant to try "chapter books" and now he can't wait for the next one.

| I generally like these books, but this one was awful. It's about girls not being allowed to go anywhere in ancient Greece, not being allowed to go to school, or the olympics, or anywhere outside, and not being allowed to learn to read or write... my 3 yr old girl and 5 yr old boy were really distressed by the injustice of it (the girl burst into tears!). | To me, this book requires some imagination and patience. I could not just breeze through the Prologue and other parts of the book without having to go back and reread some parts. But once I got into the beginning and reading about Arthur, the hesitant hero, the book grew on me.

| So I'm reviewing this out of tribute to the wonderful work of the late Ms. L'Engle. This is still a great book, even if it is led by the odd cherubim creature affectionately known as Prog. As usual, the Murray books combine the real and the serious with the fantastical, and a childhood disease leads to explorations into the world of the mitochrondia.

| I am a huge Jacques fan ad when I first read the series I read it in about six months. Personally I strongly disagree with the last reviewer who said that said Jacques is getting worse as he goes on. DONT LISTEN TO HIM. I agree that Jacques continues his repetitiveness but he has to doesnt he? Who would read these books if they always had bad guys winning and the main characters dying?
