| "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" takes Harry back to school for his fifth year. This is the longest and most complicated book so far. I think that it is excellent and comes close to being a super book. However, J.K. Rowling did run into some problems. The major problem is how one fits a great deal into a smaller space. Yet, the author must be true to several ideas that permeate the entire series.

| By the time I read the 4th installment of the "City of Ember" series, I was a little tired ot the story line. The 1st book, City of Ember, had the most original concept of an underground city, and the follow-up books relied upon the novelty of the 1st book to carry readers further. The 2nd book was ho-hum and forgettable, but the 3rd (prequel) book took a step in the right direction. This 4th book is ok, but I am glad that the story-line is limited to 4 books. | I was very interested in this series after reading City of Ember. I was very eager to see what befell the city of Ember. Like the first book, this was a page turner as well. The story itself wasn't as good. Basically, the Embrites emerge from the underground and begin looking for other people. They happen upon the City of Sparks and seek to start a new life. | Gerard Doyle has an excellent voice and brings Eragon along with all the other characters to life in the most believable fashion. In my opinion the best time to listen to this is while at work when your stuck behind a computer all day. It really helps to pass the day quite nicely.
Now my only complaint which is minor. Too many cd's. I wish there was a better way to have a compact version of this and there probably is and I just don't know about it. So again it's a minor complaint. This is highly ... Read More: |

| Well, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is longer than the first two HP books, but not better. I suppose that we have lost a bit of our wonder at Harry's world, but this book seems to be a slight let down from the high levels we enjoyed in the first two books. Nevertheless, we have a totally different start to this book than we had in the previous books.

| I may not have heard about this book had it not picked up a movie deal. And yet, now that I've read it, I'm torn as to whether or not I want to see the movie. Not because it's a bad book/story...quite the contrary. I'm worried that it could get ruined. I bought a copy for my brother for his birthday and the new edition includes pix from the movie. One picture included captures Bill Murray as the mayor during one of the opening scenes. Seeing that picture redeemed my hope...I think he could probably do a good job pulling off the ... | "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" starts out with Harry Potter, back at the Dursleys' for summer break. The Durseleys have not changed and are still not nice to Harry. Then, a flying ford filled with Weasleys shows up and Harry is off to visit with the Weasleys utill school starts.
The author manages to change the story line quite a bit from the first HP book and we are immersed in another series of Harry Potter adventures. This time, the dangers get a bit more sophisticated. Eventually, all ends well. ... Read More: |

| "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is much thicker than the previous HP books. Once again J.K. Rowling takes her magical series of tales in a darker direction. However, do not be mistaken. There is plenty of light touches and twists and turns to keep the intrest of teenagers. Early on, we are treated to a professional quidditch match, followed by a touch of evil. | After mowing through the City of Ember and People of Sparks I was geared up to reading another great book in this series. However, this book is a prequel. It SHOULD NOT be the 3rd book in the series. If you are hoping to read the next adventures of Lina and Doon don't look here.
