| We are homeschoolers and were looking for an atlas to accompany our geography curriculum. I borrowed this particular book from the public library. We were so impressed, we decided to purchase our own copy. I felt the price was great for something like this - oversized, beautiful color photographs, satellite images; political and physical maps of each continent; just about anything you could ever want from an atlas. The text is geared towards students - my own children are 9 and 11. |

| I have read 10+ books on the Holocaust, visited the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Majdanek & Treblinka, taken classes on the Holocaust & in my opinion, this is one of the best books on the subject, ranking with Elie Wiesel's "Night". Her detail & descriptions are astounding and really bring alive her experience during the Holocaust. | Our 6-yr old son loves Magic Tree House series. We ordered Thanksgiving on Thursday for him to read during November. It did not disappoint. He was able to answer questions in school because he had already read this book by the time his teacher covered T'giving with the class. He knew all the characters to the original Thanksgiving story. | I recommend this book for all little girls of color. This includes biracial and adopted girls who can also become quite conflicted about their amazing locks.
Even though they may be surrounded by friends and immediate family with similar hair, sometimes they stop seeing the rich beauty of their own hair. | This is Twaine at his best. The book provokes thought, draws sympathy, and is downright hilarious. It also reads smoothly and at a brisk pace. It's a quick, fun read. I should also emphasize that while this is frequently labelled as children's literature, I find that label to be completely misleading. While it can no doubt be enjoyed by children at their level, there are a number of subtleties, particularly in the humor, that will be beyond the comprehension of most 13 year olds.
