| This is a beautiful book. There are lots of interesting seasonal recipes, with gorgeous pictures. It's about eating with the seasons and honoring what each season can bring to the table. Some recipes are simple and some more involved. Not all the dishes have to do with figs, but all have been carefully prepared around what is grown and available fresh. |

| Even though I have shelves of cookbooks, this has been my "go to" cookbook since I received it as a wedding gift 52 years ago. I gave one to my own daughter 25 years ago, who loves it as much as I did. I just purchased this one for my 20-year-old granddaughter who has moved out of the dorm and is in her first apartment. If you have only one cookbook, this should be the one! |

| The Widow Clicquot by Tilar J Mazzeo is clearly a labor of love. The author goes into painstaking detail regarding a fairly obscure part of French history to tell us the story of a remarkable woman and by extension the story of how Champagne became the bubbly we love today. Barbe-Nicole Cliquot (nee Ponsardin)lived during the French revolution and would no doubt be even more obscure than she is had she not been pushed into business by the untimely death of her husband.

| Excellent book! My son won't eat green veggies, so sneaking them into his meatballs is a great alternative. The recipies are very creative, just need to add a few more spices to them to make them come alive. |

| This book is great for beginners or those with little experience in canning - especially pressure canning.
Lots of recipes and instructions though a little higher-priced than I would have thought. For the experienced canner there is little in this book that you can't find online with a little effort through various recipe websites or other information resources. | I love to read about the whys and wherefores behind baking, but this book is just a mess. There are occasional bits of interesting information, but for the most part the anecdotes were uninteresting. Still, I could gladly ignore that if the recipes were outstanding, but they're not. At least, they're not to my taste. Most of them are too sweet and sticky for me. | I have two problems with this book:
1. The recipes and instructions do not appear to have been tested beforehand. 2. The recipes are not as healthy as I would prefer. Many recipes seem to miss steps. For an adult, sure I can figure things out. Considering that this book is meant as recipes for children to use, leaving out steps creates confusion and does not elicit confidence.
