| Usually, Ms. Garten provides stellar recipes; however, "Barefoot in Paris" is about as bad as it gets. Her cooking times are optimistic at best and it appears that she presumes everyone has a each tool made available from Williams and Sonoma. Do yourself a favor and avoid this book, it's hack-y at best. Her recipes are neither easy nor could be made at home (unless you happen to timeshare with Gordon Ramsay). Bobby Flay's offerings are far better than Ms. Garten's misguided book. |

| I have had the earlier version of this cookbook for years and love it. It is actually as much fun to read as it is to cook with. The show on PBS is also fun. Anytime I am thinking about adding a piece of equipment to my kitchen-I always reference this to see if there is a type or brand they recommend-like a new cake pan or roasting pan. It is a treasure and very easy to use. IT is great for the novice cook or a foody like me!

| This book is pretty symbolic of how Heston Blumenthal cooks: it's done to perfection. The book is incredibly massive and filled with beautiful photography and brilliant artwork.
The first third of the book is the entire history of the Fat Duck, which includes a lot of Heston's philosophies about food and engaging the senses. | Couldn't do without it!
I usually cook for one or two, and have been able to adapt most of the recipes for my small slow cooker without any problem. As someone who is too busy, (and as other have said, too tired) to spend a lot of time preparing meals, this book is a perfect choice. There is a great variety, of recipes, amd so I never feel that I am limited in my choices. Although everything is wonderful, I would recommend the chicken dishes the most. |
