| I honestly thought that before I read this book that Anne of Green Gables was about a girl who lives on a farm with her aunt and has all sorts of normal, sappy adventures. I thought it was going to be a dull, happy-happy sort of book. What I got was almost the exact opposite of what I expected. | I've seen this book for a while now and heard/read many good things about it. And yet, for some reason, reading the summary on the back didn't drive me to read it...until this last week. For those who don't know, the gist of the story is that there is a "china doll rabbit" that a little girl has named Edward Tulane. She loves him immensely. | I am eight years old and the book is great is for any child to read.
I really enjoyed reading the book. I definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys humorous books. | Although a novel, this book is based on true conditions during the second World War. It shows the courage of the people of Denmark in hiding and sympathizing with their Jewish friends and neighbors. It is written for 8 year olds through adult, and is a demonstration of true courage that often shows itself during times of hardship. | This is a great book for kids, even young ones around 2.5 years old. It's an engaging story and my son loves the part where the man wakes up to find his hats gone, and looks up and sees all the monkeys wearing the hats! He asks me to read it everynight, and remembers the phrase "caps for sale." |

| Robert Sabuda is a master of the pop-up book and this is the second one I purchased of an adaptation of a famous children's story, and once again it does not dissapoint.
A good telling of the story combined with some incredible pop-ups, the one of the Emerald City makes you feel like you are in the story. If you are a collector or have children you must get at least one of these books. | It's been awhile since I read Perks, and I don't recall when I first started reading it, but I distinctly remember the night I finished it. I couldn't put it down, reading until the middle of the night, out on the couch while my husband slept. And that's where he found me, sitting with the book in my lap, crying deeply. Stephen Chbosky created a protagonist who's adolescence was incredibly real and familiar, and in Charlie's story I saw my own high school memories - of being taken under the wing of an older crowd, and of being left behind as they graduated. ...
