Lyle is just so nice. Unfortunately, some people - and cats - are irrationally terrified by crocodiles. Seriously, what gives?

He scares his neighbor's cat so much that his neighbor arranges to have him sent to the zoo. Where he's miserable.

But then his heroism - saving neighbor and cat from a fire - rescue him and all is well in the world again.

Very similar to Lovable Lyle, another book in the series. Also, please note that this is a lengthy, wordy book ... Read More:

Good book. It's one of the older George stories and drawings, not one of the newer George stories and drawings.

I just thought I should explain that clearly (hint, hint) after reading a few of the negative reviews. NOT a whole lot of singin' and dancin' going on in the south during Reconstruction, historically speaking that is. And this book doesn't make you feel "sad"...just oppressed...wait for it...ah, ha!...a masterpiece for all races, without a doubt. If younger readers don't get it, that might not be such a tragedy after all.

Loved this book since childhood. Has original drawings from first publication. Nicely done for a child or an adult fan.

Books : The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Apple Classics)
This delightful novel has rekindled my desire to read or re-read the classics. I picked it up for no particular reason other than I had never read Hugo. I didn't expect much: My experience with the classics in high school and college was that they are dull and not worthy of modern reading. But, to my pleasant surprise, I discovered a fascinating book that is rich in wonderful characters and vivid descriptions of 13th century Paris. This is a very good book and it's easy to see why it has stood the test of time.

Books : Greek Myths for Young Children
This is a great little book-the mythology is lavishly illustrated, and well recounted. A little too verbose to read aloud, and somewhat violent-though this is true to the mythology. I bought this copy for my six-year old and her attention definitely wandered. More suitable for for an 8-10 year old with good reading skills. I hope my little one will grow into it!

It's a story I've read many times, but I did specifically want the cover that is pictured with this item (to match the others I have in the series), and that's not what I got. Very disappointed, a complete waste of money on my part, but not worth returning by the time I pay for interational shipping.

Books : The Yearling
I give this one 5 stars. It's one of the best books of its kind that I have ever read. I missed reading it when I was young and now I am glad that I did. Reading it at 50+ years of age, I think I appreciate it more than I would of at 12 or 13 and if you notice these reviews, that's the age of most of those giving the book 1 star. That's somewhat understandable though as this book is often required reading in school, and books you're assigned and tested on never go down as well as the ones you pick up on your own.

As I understand ... Read More:
