| The Hand of the Goddess is the second book in the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. I would recommend reading them in order. Even though the book touches on some events in the previous book, there is just not enough detail book of those events to skip them. Many of them are integral in seeing the development of Alanna "Alan" over the years.

| I purchased this CD so that my fourth-graders could listen to this while they were following along in their book. It is great! This is one of my all time favorite Laura Ingalls books in her series, so was glad to see Amazon had it on CD. |

There's been so many movies based on Treasure Island that it's almost impossible not to be somewhat familiar with the story. Stevenson shines here, managing to carefully craft a story for children that will also appeal to adults. The boy hero of the story is respected enough to be included in the plans and tribulations of the adults onboard, but is not kowtowed to the point of offending adult sensibilities. | Delightful stories of the Hundred-Acre Wood and all of its lovable characters. Pooh and friends have quite a few adventures (or misadventures) in this collection of Winnie-the-Pooh stories. The stories remind me of childhood, making them special each time I reread them. I wouldn't even be able to choose my favorite chapter in this book -- each one is full of wonder, laughter, and Pooh. |

| This is a good book for my 4th grade son. It is hard to find books on his reading level that hold his interest. The narator of the story is Hank the cowdog (also self proclaimed head of ranch security). The chapters are only 3 or 4 pages and give my son a sense of accomplishment for being able to read a couple of chapters each night.
Hank also has a few pronuciation problems, allowing the young reader to identify correct pronunciation and grammer. The stories are interesting and funny and have really improved my son's interest in reading ... Read More: |
