| Trams (or any public transport) are not usually the best place to read and absorb scholarly texts. But this one has accompanied me on my daily commute, and I have been absorbed in it. It is well written and comprehensive, and tells the tale of a modern author, with plenty of "Fancy that" and "Well, well" moments. Highly recommended for stationary reading, too. |

| When I first began this book, I was a bit skeptical. I wasnt sure at all that I could make it through the whole thing. But after a few chapters, I found myself falling in love with Miss Potter. It is a great story, for unlike most biographies I have read, It ends on a happy note. Her final years were much better than her first. |

| I bought this book, started reading it, then put it down for 6 months because it was so uninteresting.
"An Examination of the Boy who Lived"? Not really. It's a collection of essay about psychology that mention aspects of the Harry Potter series. Maybe one or two essay actually discuss Harry's psyche, and even there the essays are open-ended, non-conclusive, and not wholly correct. | I generally lean toward old classics in selecting books to read to my precocious 6-yr old. This one is undoubtedly a classic, it is indeed very good literature, excellently written -- everything the other reviewers have said. Nevertheless, its story, its conflict, its central preoccupation revolves around a very British idea of class: one's "quality" as a person is determined by one's birth.
