| I'm a big fan of fairy tales and a big fan of the "annotated" series. This one has some unusual features that make it a bit more interesting. First of all, these stories are a decent collection of the well-known and not-so-well-known, so the reader can choose to indulge in something familiar like The Three Little Pigs, or maybe something less familiar, like The Juniper Tree. | This book was fairly informative and answered as well as brought up numerous questions. Of course, some of these answers can be found off the internet, this book provides historical references which greatly aid in furthering the knowledge of the entire Harry Potter Series.
I hope that a newer and even more updated version becomes available so that some other questions could be answered. |

| Reading aloud to your child is simply crucial to your child's development.
It's also a perfect quiet time for a parent to spend with a child, a cuddle at the end of the day. As the author points out, children who are read to are much more ready for school, and go on to enjoy reading much more. I do not, however, agree, with his take on phonics. | This book has the original fairy tales, and they are amazing. If you want something completely different from the clean cut Disney versions of the classics you should at least read the book. |

| Discussing the history of printers, publishers and editors in the field of Children's Literature, Marcus gives the reader a trip back in time to see the thinking and politics that created the world of Children's Literature that we work with and enjoy today. The inside view of the spheres of influence, prove to be both interesting and informative. I only regret that Marcus did not choose to include some of the early illustrations that were the foundation for today's picture book art. |

| This book mostly traces the Latin roots of many of the spell and character names J.K. Rowling used. Obviously she put her Latin classes to very good use in coming up with fitting names for just about everything.
But I was really hoping for more discussion on what history or other books Rowling used as inspiration and how everything fits together, and this is more like a dictionary of terms.
