| I bought this for my baby nephew, thinking it might be the Lowly Worm story I had memorized when I was teeny. It's not, but was still a good purchase. It's even smaller than a regular board book (check the measurements) and is a word book rather than a story. So it will probably be a good take-along more than for story time.

| This book does a really great job of acknowledging the true reason we celebrate Christmas - Jesus' birth - while not downplaying any of the other holiday traditions our culture has become accustomed to. It does not say that Santa does not exist (for those fearful parents whose children still "believe") but suggests that Santa is a reminder of attributes that God cares about and wants us all to possess. | Finally a fantasy book written in an intelligent manner that has elements of fantasy and incorporates a strong belief in science and logic. Christians are the most narrow minded, cruel and ignorant people on the planet and it is fantastic to see them portrayed as such. Amazing plot, characters and story. | My six year old daughter totally gets these books. Yes, we have talked about what Junie B. is doing wrong, and how we should behave in "real" life. Definitely an opportunity to explain right from wrong. I'll use age-appropriate opportunities, real or fiction, to teach life skills. So far, it seems to be working. Enjoy! |

| It must be over a decade since I last read this book- and nearly 35 years since I first read it. Yet, when I reread it this week I still became completely engrossed in it once again. Tolkien crafted a nearly perfect faery-tale here. In some ways it presages the Lord of the Rings, yet it is somehow different. It has a different feel to it. Had LOTR never been written this book would have still stood on its own as a classic.

| The book comes with a CD of songs...the updated illustrations are terrific, the book is fun, and brings back many memories of my children's childhood. I am looking forward to sharing these with my grandkids...
The music is delightful, and energetic but buyer beware, there are only four songs on the CD the rest is empty!!!!! Too bad that there are no more songs, new or old songs or poetry, some supplements to fill the disk, I feel a bit cheated... |
