This is a nice book to help kids understand properties of matter better. The book introduces experiments that kids can do at home, with family and with friends. Teachers can also use the experiments in the classroom. I use the book to help my middle school ESOL students to understand science better and learn the English terms that go with the subject matter. True books are an excellent series for them.

Books : Growing Crystals (True Books: Earth Science)
I used this book with a second grader. She had no difficulty understanding the text and memorizing key concepts. I followed up by having us grow crystals. It was a memorable experience for her and a great introduction to scientific concepts at a young age.

The title, "Something out of Nothing," is truly inspired! It taps into so many layers: 1) Marie's humble beginnings and rise to greatness; 2) alchemy, and the creation of precious material from base sources; 3) the unexpected discovery of radioactivity; and even 4) the "big bang" origin of the universe.

According to the introduction this book is primarily intended for juveniles (high school students, or even middle school); this is reinforced by the large type font, the large amount of white ... Read More:

Books : Pop! A Book About Bubbles (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science)
"A Book about Bubbles" is an excellent science story. It explains how bubbles are made, why they are round and what causes them to pop. It's written clearly and crisply. It explains concepts (e.g., stickiness, roundness) well and in a way that young children can easily grasp. Yet it is fun and inspires curiosity. The photos depict kids of all races and all ages working and playing with bubbles. A good science book will fill a child with wonder about her world. This one does it. Good for smart and focused ... It was good. It came in a little late, but it's alright. We got it anyways, and it was in pretty good condition, like how it was described to be.
