| I think that Chemical Chaos is a great and horrible book because it tells you about horrible chemistry and alchemists!
It's also a book that teaches the truth about chemistry and how it was invented. I like the facts in the book and the way they use comic strips to tell you things with jokes! |

| The "Updated" parts of this 3rd Edition do not significantly enhance the quality of presentation for biochemical concepts. The "Essential Questions"
are not essential and can be found in the Study Guide to the 2nd Edition. It is a whole lot cheaper to purchase a 2nd Edition + Study Guide than to waste money on the 3rd Edition textbook just because it is "NEW" and shiny. Take my advice -- Save a ton of money; Buy the 2nd Edition + Study Guide! |

| I used this text as the basis for teaching 2nd and 3rd grade elem. chemistry in our homeschool co-op. Some of the terms are "above" that level, but someone with a little science background or enjoyment will be able to explain them. I have been AMAZED at how quickly the kids picked up the concepts presented in this book- and feel that at the end of our course, they have a very solid foundation for chemistry and science. | I've been searching for some time for a "real" science course for my home-schooled children. There is a plethora of experiment books, but very little in the way of systematic course instruction. Traditional texts are geared toward the classroom setting and often jump from one area to another without much depth on any particular topic.

| I used this book for 3 quarters of general chemistry. Its an ok book, as I use it quite alot for my organic chemistry lab work. My school bookstore ordered the paperback "custom" version of this book, which I think is retarded because most chemistry / chemical engineering students are going to want to keep their chemistry books for future class and or job reference. | This book gives a simplified explanations for many topics in science. It covers biology, chemistry, and physics. It also includes detailed drawings for many topics. The explanations are simple enough that many 8th graders are able to understand them. As a science teacher I love this book. I makes rewording topics for students to understand a breeze. It was also a good refresher for any topics I hadn't studied in a while. |
