| An Honor Book for 2005, "Whittington" is, at the very least, worthy of this placement. (The 2005 Newbery Award Book is "Kira-Kira," a book I have not read and cannot make a comparative judgment.)
"Whittington" is a special book for several reasons (to be outlined here). I find the stories to be a concatenation (series of stories linked together), skilfully linked. But don't trust my opinion. | The illustrations are beautiful, and the meaning is wonderful. It is about helping others, which is a lesson I think a lot of us would benefit from. You definitely need to get this book. I read this book with my three year old, and he loved it, too. |

| I thought Midnight and Moonrise were much better than Dawn. The whole point of the book was for the clans to leave the forest but for the firt 200+ pages they were just sitting around watching the forest get destroyed.In Midnight the whole book was about traveling, but in Dawn the clans make a longer journey in a smaller amount of pages.Once the clans left the forest the book got better. |

| My entire family loves the Skippyjon Jones books, but the Treasure Hunt was very disappointing. It was too babyish, even for my seven year old, and we felt cheated that we didn't get a real story. The book should be billed as an activity book for very young children. |

| This book really captures my imagination, says Taima, age 8 1/2. I think it would be good for kids from advanced 7 to kind of below 9 years old. Anyway, I really think you should buy this book for a present or just to read. Even older people could read it and I'm sure that it would be good for them too. |
