I guess I am not typical of the other reviewers, because I am a 13-yr old girl and I found it dreadfully boring. It had too many facts and not enough storyline; not a fan of pirates so that didn't add to the magic for me. This book is too much like non-fiction. I had to read it for school, along with many other books that were recommended in our reading program, and it was my least favorite of all of them.

This is an absolutely wonderful book. It is historically acurate, interesting and very well written. Reading the trials and hardships Rosetta must go through to find her adopted sister that she loves so much makes you never want to put this book down. I loved this book, for more reasons than one! It's twists in the plot give it definition and color. Go out and get this book, it is definately worth it!
