| The author, Matianne O'Connor certainly knows her subject. Though I'm a more sedentary person then the author, her descriptive passages made me feel as if I were missing out on something by not spending more time in the woods, hiking. Seriously, Ms. O'Connor has written a very entertaining and informative book. |

| The problem with this book is that is doesn't play to one specific audience and by doing so renders itself useless. It offers tips that are very basic as well as advanced but it doesn't make any sense. Its a small book meant to be taken with you while you hike but so it doesn't cover any one tip in too much detail. | After serving as a girl scout camp counselor for a summer, the poetry in this book certainly has meaning to me. The poems are wonderfully supported by soft painted illustrations. The story behind the poetry is a girl and her family going on a camping trip together... maybe an annual event.
