| I teach 8th grade English, and we have been reading this book. The students love it! the stories are great, the pictures equally as wonderful. It details the jobs from the smallest breaker boy to the miner and his butty - talks about the mules and rats, and the patch towns, as well as the tragedies, and 'black maria'.
We live about an hour away from the Scranton area, and we are planning to visit the coal mines. The students are very excited to visit, and have learned so much already ... Read More: |

| I was familiar with Larry Burkett's work before we ordered this book so I trusted that it would be a good resource. I was not prepared for how thorough it is. I homeschool my high school daughter and we are using it as a study guide to prepare her for real life. It's been great to see her learning skills for life along with the biblical principles of spending.

| This story is about the history of money. It was kind of interesting because it tells in long time ago how they got foods without money. Also, it tells how money started. The book explained how money is made and now how it is use. I like this book because before I read this book I wondered what money is made of. Well, I thought it was going to be a little bit boring, but it was ok. I want to recommend this book to students who like history books and also who are interested in money.

| As a little girl this book was one of my favorites. It also changed my life. When I grew up I knew because of this book I'd want to be a photographer and help the poor.
I know am a photographer and an inner city teacher along with working with street kids. The black and whites in this photo I still study. They are mouth dropping! |

| At the time of this review, this book is listed for ages 9-12 but as a picture book, I would recommend it for age 4 up to 9. The facts introduced are intriguing enough for older ages, even adults, but as a picture book, it is very hard to imagine a twelve year old actually reading it.

| This is a great book, lots of great ideas for businesses that your child/teen can do. The majority of the ideas seemed to have to do with 'going green', which is great! It's written clearly and in a fun way that makes the reading go by fast. Well worth purchasing! You will get your money back in all the great ideas. |
