| I was not impressed when I received this book from the the book club at our preschool. I think the message that no one wants to play with you if you are ugly, and then when you are beautiful you can go back and snub them is a terrible one. With the many issues our children face today - inappropriate role models in the media, anorexia, teenagers having plastic surgery - this message just reinforces those same ideas "I must be beautiful to be popular." | Unfortuneately, this book was a huge let down. More for me than the kids. The thing i love about David Kirk's books are how fun they are to read out loud. The words are so perfect and roll right of your tongue.
This was just a TV show retold in prose. Very boring. The kids didnt see to mind, but I(Mom)was totally let down. |

| This is my favorite of all my kids' books. My mother bought it for my children about 20 years ago (OMG! Has it really been that long?). After one reading, we were hooked. I used to read it out loud to their kindergarten class and it was a huge hit. There are those who don't care for it, but I have to believe they must be dull, unimaginative human beings who perhaps have never laughed hard enough to blow milk out their nose. | My children have watched this show for a while now and over all I didn't mind the show. Last week my 5 year old daughter took this book out of the school library. Everyone was excited so we cuddled up on the sofa to read it. I was HORRIFIED and had to stop reading.

| Unlike many simplified books for children to draw various things, this one isn't dumbed down too much. I have a 6-year-old who is a budding naturalist and who pays a lot of attention to the details of the things he studies. Where other bug books just show some random cross hatching on the dragonfly wings, this one cares about the artistry of those wings.
